Acne is a skin condition that can affect people of every background, each gender, and even every age. While most people who suffer from acne experience their first pimples around age 13, some people have acne as babies. Did you know that baby’s can have acne? Baby acne is more common then you would think. Many new parents are alarmed by baby acne. Not to worry, baby acne is a normal facet of life.

So what is baby acne exactly?

Is it the same type of acne as a teenager or adult has to deal with? No, not exactly. Baby acne comes in the form of small red bumps. Baby acne can also appear as whiteheads. However, the acne is not like teen and adult acne. You don’t have to worry about your baby getting pock marks from this type of acne. At this age you have to worry more about your baby getting scars from picking chicken pox then from baby acne.

Many parents wonder if their baby will have acne at infancy and in their teen years as well. Parents can rest easy in that baby acne usually clears up when your baby is between four to six months in age. If your baby still has acne after six months of age then you should consult your Pediatrician. Your baby may need to be evaluated to make sure it is not another type of skin condition or even a rash.

Many parents also wonder if they should treat baby acne in the same manner that they treat teen and adult acne. Teen and adult acne surface for a different reason and are a different type of acne in general. Therefore, baby acne should not be treated with soap, creams, or lotions. Instead, simply cleanse your baby’s face with water once a day. Do not use soaps or lotions because these items can actually make the baby acne worse.

If your baby has bothersome baby acne then you can consult your doctor for guidance. Your doctor may prescribe a skin medicine specifically geared for your baby’s skin. Don’t ever use your own medicine on your baby as it may be dangerous. Also try to use detergents such as Dreft that are easy on the skin. Sometimes baby acne is acerbated by skin allergies. So using allergen free products is your best bet.

What is the cause of baby acne?

In general, baby acne stems from the transfer of hormones between the mother and baby right before birth. These hormones prompt the oil glands to produce oil. This oil then causes the baby acne. While this is the generally accepted cause, the exact cause of baby acne is still being researched.

If you are not quite sure if your baby might have acne then you can always consult your doctor. They will help you monitor the condition especially if it does not clear up by six months of age. If your baby suffers from baby acne then know that you are not alone. Your baby’s acne will eventually go away leaving clear skin.

I had acne for over five years and I did a lot of research on how to beat it. So I am attempting show you years of reading and information in a few short points which will help you in your fight to beat acne. These points help those with mild, moderate and severe forms of acne. It is crucial that you avoid these causes to make sure your acne does not get worse.

10 Causes Of Acne:

1. Stress, Anxiety. These two factors are crucial and both lead to each other and worsen the appearance of acne. Both have the potential to lift hormone levels and worsen the condition of the skin.

2. Fast food. Oily foods such as hot chips and burgers.

3. Soft drinks. Coke and every thing other than lemonade and fruit juices are bad for acne.

4. Chocolate. Very high in sugar and fat which can cause big break outs.

5. Poor Sleep. Similar to stress, this can raise hormone levels. And decreases the bodies ability to fight against conditions and diseases of the skin.

6. Make Up. This makes the skin dirty and susceptible to bacteria.

7. Moisturizer. A lot of acne prone skin aggravates when this is applied.

8. Sun cream. Most sun creams are bad for acne. Some can work very well. Look at whether the sun cream is suited to those with acne prone skin.

9. Very hot water or cold water.

10. Dry skin.

Nine and ten make it very hard for the immune system to fight against acne.

Try to avoid all ten of these causes and you should notice some immediate and long term improvements in your skin.

Laser acne treatment has been around for a few years now, and it is quickly replacing more traditional forms of acne removal and prevention. As antibiotics become increasingly ineffective due to overuse, more and more people are opting for this new technique. During laser resurfacing, a doctor holds a laser pen just above the acne or acne scar tissue and waves the concentrated beam of light back and forth, vaporizing only the unwanted tissue and creating a new surface for skin cell growth. Thus the term “laser resurfacing”. New collagen actually forms after laser treatment. (Collagen is a protein in the skin’s connective tissue that helps give the skin its texture.)

Although laser resurfacing is safe and painless in almost all cases, some post-procedural bruising and swelling are normal. In most cases, these side effects persist for seven to ten days. Wait until this passes before applying make-up.

Currently there are no federal restrictions on who can perform laser resurfacing; regulations only affect the laser manufacturers themselves. There are many types of lasers for many different purposes, so be sure to use a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Be sure to ask where your doctor was trained to use the laser equipment and whether your doctor rents or owns his or her laser equipment. Ask to see before and after pictures of the doctor’s cases, and find out how many different types of lasers the doctor owns and how often each piece of equipment is used.

Many doctors feel that laser resurfacing isn’t meant for dark skin because it alters the color of skin too dramatically and unpredictably. Others believe that in the hands of a very experienced surgeon, people with darker skin tones can benefit.

Lasers acne treatment is much more invasive than non-ablative lasers. They remove by erosion, melting, evaporation, or vaporization. Ablative lasers are not recommended for use on darker skin colors.

Laser resurfacing costs upwards of $2,500 for a full face, versus $1,000 for other types of scar and acne removal. Consult with an experienced aesthetic dermatologist and laser surgeon to determine what it best for you.

We’ve always been told to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, by nutritionist, dieticians and doctors. But why is this? It’s no surprised that around 70% of our body is made up of water, right? That’s no secret. The use of water has numerous benefits, ranging quite broadly from increased digestive function to detoxing the body natural.

But the question that I’m all too often asked is simple, what are the benefits that water can give me, with regard to acne. You may be surprised to know that the use of water can play an extremely important part in reducing acne. Heck, drinking water can in some cases completely remove acne and oily skin from some people.

Why is this? Well the answer to that question is very simple. Water can help detox the body of water. You see, when you eat food, in particular fast food, you have food products in your body. These foods are often very, very high in oil and sometimes grease. So to explain it quite simple, when the body absorbs this food, in other words, when the body breaks down the food to digest it also gets the grease content.

Let’s say you’ve got a natural oily face, in fact, a lot of people have this same problem. Now let’s also say that you regularly eat fast food or food that often contains a very high oil or grease amount. I bet you anything that you often break out with terrible acne, in some cases, I bet you might even get acne on your back?

If you said yes to any or all of the questions that I just mentioned above, then I strongly recommend you start to drink at least 8 glasses of water each and every day. Why? Well water helps to flush out all this disgusting, oily and greasy food content from inside your body before it can be absorbed. This means that the amount of oily that accumulates on your face is kept to a minimal and you start to look fresher.

So in short, the use of water can drastically help you to reduce the systems of an oily face by flushing out all the old food that has built up in your stomach as a result of your diet. The best part is, water is an extremely inexpensive way for you to minimise the effects of acne. That being said, you may be wondering how much water should I drink each day?

The answer to that question is also very simple, you should aim for at least 8 glasses of water each day. The more you drink, the better it will be. So with that in mind, I wish you all the very best for your goal of minimising that oily face of yours. Just remember to drink water, plenty and plenty of water and you should be fine.

Also, just as a very brief side note; try and avoid processed beverages, like soda and coffee as these can have a negative effect on your acne fighting campaign.

When you suffer from acne, every day can be its own nightmare. Inconsistent and unpredictable skin can have you waking every morning wondering what story your face will be telling that day. Acne treatment can’t come soon enough and for those who deal with acne, the right acne treatment can change their life.

But even after acne has been treated, the resulting complexion can carry its own set of burdens. Healthy skin – now clear of breakouts – can still carry the remnants of violent acne in the shape of pockmarks, scars, and redness. This can be the cruelest thing of all; still displaying the ravages of a condition you’ve finally managed to beat.

Luckily, there is a multitude of acne treatments available for those who want to rid themselves once and for all of the effects of acne. In this age of technological advancement, professional dermatologists now offer a wide array of services that can greatly improve the look of your now healthy skin.

Chemical peels – probably the most well-known of the acne treatments – are done by a skin care professional and involve the application of an acid-based product to the skin. This acid removes the top layer of skin. While several treatments may be necessary to obtain the best results, chemical peels are relatively painless and simple procedures.

For those whom pockmarked, indented skin is the issue, the best results may come from an acne treatment known as augmentation. During augmentation, the skin care professional will actual inject a non-toxic material underneath the indented skin thus filling out the crevice and eliminating the pockmark.

Dermabrasion can be likened to exfoliation but is much more thorough. Because of the intensity of this acne treatment, the skin must first be numbed after which a special machine is used to slough away the first layer of skin. Dermabrasion can be enormously effective; most patients see results within a few short weeks.

One of the more invasive methods includes an acne treatment known as punch technique wherein a scar is actually surgically administered to in one of three ways; in the replacement technique where the scar is cut directly from the skin and replaced with new skin obtained from a graft; the excision technique wherein the scar is removed and the wound permitted to heal; and the elevation technique during which the scar is cut from the bottom and allowed to move to the top of the skin to fill out the area.

Finally subcision, another form of acne treatment, includes the excision of the scar after which the blood is allowed to clot beneath the wound. The subsequent scar tissue pushes the indented skin to the surface resulting in a smooth complexion.

Acne doesn’t have to be a lifetime sentence. Now you can rid yourself of acne and discover brand new skin with acne treatment.

If you have acne then the worst kind is severe cystic acne. This can really damage the skin permanently, as well as the psyche. Read these tips and expert advice…

The one thing that must be understood about cystic acne is that treatments like cleansers or antibiotics won’t really help. An internal “holistic” program must be used to stand a chance. Cystic acne is a sign that there is some deep-seated problems with the hormonal system and detoxification systems of the body. These imbalances of the body systems must be addressed to fully eliminate this stubborn breed of acne.

The first place to start is with diet. Fatty foods can produce zits and cysts and need to be cut down on. Intake of vegetables needs to be increased to help balance the body’s system. This diet aspect is a very powerful approach.

Supplements can help address balancing of the body’s system, and something like a few grams of vitamin c goes a long way in treating deep, red acne.

Often recommended are body cleanses, such as liver cleansing. For really bad cystic acne that doesn’t fully respond to diet changes and supplements, you may need to do such a cleanse. This is guaranteed to work, but does require dedication. Cleanses are a very powerful way to balance the body’s systems and handle severe acne.

The main thing to remember is that although a cystic acne cure may seem impossible, it really isn’t, but perhaps requires a more holistic approach to effectively resolving your condition.

Sure you have gotten the right facts about acne and acne treatment?

Acne, also known as pimples or zits, is one of the most frustrating, depressing, and yet most common skin problems today. But do you how it happens? What causes it? Poor hygiene, dirt, medication, chocolate, greasy, spicy food that causes “heatiness” in the body, or simply wrong diet? Dispel these myths and get some truths about acne and acne treatment.

At the onset of puberty, the hormone testosterone produced in both males and females causes the oil glands in the skin to grow and produce more oil or sebum. At the same time, the skin inside the pores also grows and sheds off more quickly. The sebum mixed with dead skin cells, and sometime bacteria, forms a sticky plug that blocks the hair follicles or pores. Clogging of the oil on the skin hence causes acne to form.

Acne appears commonly on the face and upper chest and back, but it can also happen all over our body, except where the skin is without hair, for example, palms, soles, lips. The most prominent place where acne manifests is in the medial facial zone, where four to ten times more oil glands are found than in any other part of the body. Initially acne arises only as white heads or black heads. The mixture of hardened oil and skin debris can become food for acne bacteria. With bacterial infection, red spots, white pus bumps or cystic lumps appear. If not treated in time properly, these can develop into severe acne, which is red, ugly and painful. Many adults in their 30′s, 40′s and even beyond are also known to have acne outbreaks. Factors causing acne eruptions include biological hormonal changes, intense emotion, stress and sleep depravity.

Fight Acne

Wash your face twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime with warm water and a mild soap or cleanser. Too frequent washing can actually irritate your skin and cause your acne to become worse. For acne treatement, use soaps and cleansers that are “non-comedogenic” (does not irritate acne) and apply water-based, oil-free makeup. Oil-based makeup may cause acne to get worse. Avoid harsh alcohol-based cleansers and cleansers that contain oil and never scrub your skin harshly. Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel. Use an oil-free sunscreen if you are outdoors.

Do not squeeze or break your pimples. This will most definitely cause more inflammation and tissue damage and scarring. Do not rub or touch the skin on your face. Do not wear headbands, chin straps, or tight hats that rub against your skin and causes irritation. Keep hair off your forehead and away from your face. Wash your hair every day to keep it away from excessive oil. If you wear glasses or sunglasses, clean them often, especially the bit that sits on your nose, which tends to be one of the oiliest areas in the face. Change your sheets and pillowcases as often as you can. While acne is not caused by poor hygiene, a good routine can help control it.

The traditional honey remedy is excellent for treating oily acne prone skin. It possesses natural humectants that help keep the moisture in your skin. Honey feeds the skin with its natural nutrients and plays a role in killing the bacteria that causes acne. After having thoroughly cleansed your skin, you can then apply pure raw honey to the affected area. Keep it one for ten minutes and then rinse off. Some people also advise mixing three tablespoons of raw honey together with one teaspoon of cinnamon to get rid of your existing pimples before they can cause acne scars. Apply the honey cinnamon paste to individual pimples just before you go to bed and leave it overnight and then rinse it off in the morning. Repeat this acne treatment for two week.

Acne rosacea and alcohol consumption to excess have long been linked in the imagination of many. The reddened, coarse “whiskey nose” belonging to W.C. Fields is a visual reminder of the effects of untreated rosacea. The rosacea-plagued skin becomes increasingly red, and can cause over-development of tissue on the nose, leading to a bulbous appearance. However, the common impression that rosacea only occurs among drinkers is patently false. However, drinking exacerbates the flushing effect of rosacea, so heavy drinkers often display more severe symptoms. But even teetotalers can suffer from the disease,

Acne rosacea and alcohol usage, then, do not go hand in hand as disease and cause. Actually, damage from the sun is a much-greater contributor to the development of acne rosacea than drinking alcohol is.The disease is a skin disorder leading to redness and inflamed areas that appear to be pimples on the nose, forehead, cheekbones, and chin. It is especially prevalent in fair-skinned females aged 30-60, particularly those of Irish, British and Scandinavian descent. It should be noted that acne rosacea is not the same condition at all as regular acne. As rosacea advances, it often causes inflamed areas known as pustules and papules which are hard nodes similar to appearance to regular acne.

Acne rosacea and alcohol are linked, however, in the fact that alcohol is a trigger for the flushing that contributes to rosacea. Red wine is the worst offender for flushing. In a study of rosacea sufferers, red wine that caused rosacea flareups in 76% of the cases. Many sufferers find they avoid all types of alcohol to prevent the skin flushing that makes rosacea symptoms worse. In the same study, 64% stated that it only took a single drink to cause a flushing reaction.

Acne rosacea and alcohol–Is alcohol the only trigger in flareups? No, there are many factors which will worsen the appearance of rosacea. Really, anything that triggers flushing should be avoided. This includes sun exposure (use a high SPF sunscreen daily), overheating from hot baths and showers, exercise, spicy foods, hot drinks such as tea and coffee. Anxiety and stress can also be factors in triggering rosacea outbreaks as well as can exposure to cold weather.

Many people have acne problems when they are a teenager. It is just something that most of us go through. After it is over, many think they will never encounter this again. However, for some people around the age of 40, acne starts to come back. Below we will discuss what you can do that will help you get rid of your adult acne.

Start off by watching your diet. Diet has more of an influence in adult acne than it does even when you are a teenager. Sugars and carbohydrates are thought to be some of the leading causes of adult acne in relationship to food. In general start eating produce over processed food for best results.

Stop touching your face. Some people start to have problem with acne because they get extra dirt into their pores by touching the face all the time. Make a mental note to stop doing this.

Sometimes it is caused by makeup. There are certain types of makeup that actually clog up your pores. You need to find a brand that is a bit healthier for your skin and can keep the pores open to prevent acne problems.

Do your best to get some exercise. This will open the pores on your face. For some it also help balances your hormones which can be one of the problems that is causing your acne in the first place.

Be sure that you start cleaning your face more often just like you did when you were a teen. A clean face will have less acne than one that is not washed often. Keep some facial cleaning pads with you to wash up during the day when you are out.

Start drinking more water. This is essential for skin health. Many skin problems improve in people who start drinking more water who previously did not have enough of it before. Adding this to your routine will give you more results.

Acne is a disorder that causes outbreaks of skin lesions usually called spots or pimples. It is a rather common disease, actually the most common skin disease that doctors come across. It usually affects young adults and teenagers more than any other age group. In fact it is so common in teens that it’s thought to be a normal part of adolescence. This is not a really serious health threat but, it can lead to scarring. Of course it can affect you at any age. The most often found type is Acne Vulgaris which means ~common acne”. The worst type is made up of cysts (sacs) and nodules (swelling). Perioral dermatitis is the strain of which the younger woman can suffer from. Another sort of acne “acne mechanica” is the result of physical irritation to certain areas of the body, either resulting in or aggravating a previous instance. Your dermatologist will decide upon the best type of treatment for your particular case.

The type of treatment that you undergo should depend upon the type of acne with which you are afflicted. Having a severe strain when you are a youngster can do some damage to your psyche and self- confidence. The worst type of acne may even result in scarring that if not dealt with properly, could be visible for the rest of your life. Why do we have spots? The main cause is the production of sex hormones, called androgen, that start at puberty. Changes of hormonal levels in the various stages of pregnancy can also cause skin problems. Bacterial infection of clogged hair follicles is one of the main triggers of a bout of acne. New research states that milk can also be a cause. We all know that vitamins are good for you, but too much of the three B vitamins can result in flare-ups. There is no one simple cause of outbreaks, the condition is caused by many different factors, several of which you can do very little about. Most medical experts still say that the exact cause of acne is not known.

Acnezine is a scientifically prepared treatment made to get rid of it through a revolutionary antioxidant method. Of late, the FDA has put their seal of approval on several different lasers for the treatment of this skin condition. Light Therapy, although relatively new, has been demonstrated to be a useful treatment against the pain in the butt which is acne. You may be lucky and come across a new treatment that works great with your skin type and condition. At the end of the day a licensed medical person should always be seen for diagnosis and treatment of any medical condition.
